Reply from Accessibility Bathrooms Updated We never at any time told AB that our insurers would pay in full, and certainly not for the cost of the plumber that AB failed to supply at the time of our emergency. Accessible residential bathrooms are bathrooms designed for wheelchair users in residential zones that provide enough clear floor space for a wheelchair to turn. It was AB who kept telling us we would have to go through the fitter's insurance. AB were fully appraised that our insurance would not pay in full and that we would have to claim the excess, including the emergency plumber, on their fitter’s insurance. Nobody else had done anything with the cold water pipe other than AB! Ian was going to send somebody to sort out the stains but then the ceiling collapsed and we went the route that we did with our insurers and their recommended builders. It is a place where people with multiple or complex. Actually this is not true - Ian attended when some brown stains appeared before the ceiling collapse and said he thought it was a leak from the immersion heater pipe, which he tightened up and said had been down to AB. A Changing Places bathroom is much more than an accessible toilet. I note AB’s response that I refused to have anyone attend to inspect the damage. ![]() Other than this, the shower works well with regard to temperature, flow, etc. AB have not given us anything in compensation at all. We have not claimed anything other than repairs in spite of fairly considerable disruption, not to say some emotional trauma at having massive chunks of plaster narrowly miss both of us. This final sum has not been forthcoming, in spite of numerous attempts to get it - it would cover the full cost of the emergency plumbing that Accessibility Bathrooms assured us via email would be paid in full. There was an insurance excess that was payable by AB's bathroom fitter's insurance, which was eventually paid bar a further excess payable by the fitter himself. AB offered to pay for the repairs (and also the plumber) however, we preferred to use my father's insurers and the local builder recommended by my father's insurers. Accessibility Bathrooms were unable to send an emergency plumber so we had to send out for one. Fortunately neither of us were injured or killed. A few days after the shower was fitted at my father's house the cold water pipe, which had been fitted incorrectly, created a leak that caused the ceiling of the dining room below the bathroom to collapse almost on top of my 93 year old father and me.
